Self branding - Elizabeth Avedon design

Elizabeth Avedon design has a very elegant, sophisticated style which is reflected in the logotype. The words are understated, the letters have perfectly spaced tracking.
Grey and red work really well together, i think the grey complements the monochrome tones in the black and white photography frequently used in her designs and the red is a strong contrast with this.

Self Branding - Andy Perez, Alex Matveev

I have been looking at designers and and their branding, these are a few that stood out to me:

Andy Perez works from a strong conceptual perspective.

His work is bright and colourful which is not reflected in in his logotype, however, the typography does reflect his quirky, collage style of work. The logotype is well balanced, I think he used black and white as this would sit well on his work without being lost in the bold colours.
The letters look like they have been cut out to form his name which reflects the collage style.

Alex Matveev's logotype reflects the futuristic, crisp, clean style of his work. He is originally from Moscow, I think that the logotype has a russian feel about it

Self branding project

I have been working on some ideas for self branding.
I have been looking at Evgenia Barinova's logo and what it say's about her style.
It has a hand drawn style and is simplistic in design. I'm not sure what the logo represents, it looks like a fish bone or a fence of some sort. I think, although simple, this logo conveys a clear illustrative feel about the artist and gives a sense of what to expect from her work.

Renault brief

I've had a few ideas for the renault brief, one plays on the environmentally friendly aspect of the car, I think that a few people will probably take this route as the car is powered by electricity. My idea is photography based, I want to take some close ups of natural textures and elements, trees, the sea, sky for example and use these as the basis for the design. As the car is aimed at city dwellers I thought it would be a refreshing sight in an urban environment and emphasise the car's zero carbon design feature.
I had another idea to make the car look quite sporty although it can only reach a max speed of 50mph, I thought iy might be fun and appeal to the younger market while giving a lift in the credibility department.
I aim to have one of these ideas uploaded by Tuesday.

Poster development

Made some final tweaks to my ministry of sound posters today. I was influenced by swiss style grid layout for the composition and think it has been very effective. I altered the tracking, kerning and leading to make everything fit and i'm now far more comfortable using these techniques and inDesign in general.
Just need to get all of my annotation and development in order and print on Tuesday.

Body Painting

Today I had a session booked in the photography studio for my ministry of sound design. I used body paint, the laser cut stencil i designed and a sponge to create stippled effect, colourful typography on Donna's back, I used the same effect on Vanessa and Danielle's arms. The initial idea was to have arms in the air with the words on, this was harder to shoot than I imagined as the stencil reached shoulder height so it was hard not to get heads in shot. The back shots went well after some carefully arranged lighting. I am going to look at the images in photoshop and digitally manipulate them for the purpose of the ministry of sound poster. Gary the photographer also gave me the option to book another session on Thursday if I decide I need some more arm images using a smaller stencil.
