Renault brief

I have a new brief, to design a Renault 'twizzy'. I have started by looking in to the idea behind the car and its target market. The brief is a competition currently being run by Renault, I aim to complete this brief over the next week but will have to plan my time carefully as I also have the Typographic and editorial design brief to complete.

Development

Got my research tasks printed today and the plans for my idea are all in place. I visited the 3d design room today and made use of the laser cutting equipment for a typography stencil, I will post pictures of the results on Friday ...

Staff Bistro

This was my logo design for the Rye Hill Staff Bistro, the target market was lecturers and college staff, I think my logo has a broad appeal and incorporates a fun sophisticated element to the bistro, tying in the colours already used in a light feature in the building.

Development

After researching the two briefs for d and ad i have decided to go with the ministry of sound brief. I initially liked the pentagram brief but feel that the ministry of sound will give me more freedom with typography and design. There are some constraints of the brief which include the colour pallete and the information that needs to be clearly displayed. I'm looking forward to experimenting with typography after researching Stefan Sagmeister and David Carson. The next stage of my development is initial ideas...

targets for the week ahead...

I have just been given the P and PD brief, I want to cover the content of the brief through this blog so I am going to start using SWOT analysis from now on when I post. I am also continuing work on the Typographical and Editorial design brief, as I have now completed research task 1 and 2, I am going to begin research on the Typographic Circle, I aim to have this completed by Tuesday.

Stefan Sagmeister

For my second research task I did some research on Stefan Sagmeister, I was inspired by his use of the environment and the world around us as part of his design, everyday oblects, coins for example, creating innovative typography and branches digitally manipulated to spell out his own mottos. I find Sagmeister's work very personal and autobiographical, it comes from experience and carries a message with a focus on happiness. Based on the research I have done I am going to incorporate more experimentation with mixed media and photography in to my work for the current brief.

Typographic and Editorial Design

I am currently working on a brief as part of the DandAD awards. There are two options that fit in with the college brief, one is to design a poster for 'Ministry of Sound' and the other to create a supplement for 'The Typographic Circle'. After researching David Carson and Stefan Sagmeister I am excited to try out some ideas and start designing. I am leaning more towards the supplement at the moment.
This is my new blog, my aim is to document my development in Graphic Design.
Today I have looked at SWOT analysis, I will be using this tool to assess my progress as I work.
